Medical Director
Dr. Card leads New River Valley Medicine with a unique combination of military medical service experience and internal medicine expertise. After serving in the United States Navy at Camp Lejeune and Great Lakes Naval Base, he chose to establish his practice in Southwest Virginia, bringing high-quality, patient-centered care to our community. His commitment to team-based care and preventive medicine has shaped our practice's approach to delivering exceptional healthcare services to the New River Valley region.

As we all know, urgent care experiences can be quite the drag, but I actually quite enjoyed myself during my visit. My phone call to the practice before arriving was helpful and pleasant, and the check-in process upon arrival was equally so. Probably was the last walk in of the day. Never had been there before but my son had ear pain and I knew he needed medical attention. The staff helped us check in and get seen without issue. Everyone was kind and professional. I would recommend over many urgent cares in the area after this excellent experience.

Everyone is so nice, professional and helpful. Facility is easy to find, great parking, very clean and up to date. Dr. Bowers has the best “bedside manner” thoroughly went over my medical history explaining things in an easy to understand manner…Jan Pixton the new PA there will fit in nicely and the reason I made the move. Liz, the nurse who checked me in is a delightful young woman who made me feel very comfortable on my first visit. Looking forward to a long relationship with this group.

Doctors and PA are very nice. They took me off the list for no reason other than they thought I was with someone else when I came in. Why would I take the time and they didn't even ask if there was a Darryl in the room. So even though I was first I was last. So I had to wait a long time.

I was in town for a wedding and unexpectedly had to go to an urgent care the day of the wedding. The doctor and nurses were SO wonderful - efficient, empathetic, and very supportive. They diagnosed me quickly and since I didn’t live there, they helped me pick a pharmacy. I was so grateful for them and highly recommend this practice!
